Given that Ty grew up in Jamaican household eating the national dish, ackee and saltfish, and dancing to dancehall and reggae music at family functions, his love for Naomi Campbell, Bob Marley, and his Carribean heritage is no surprise.
Conflicts between sociocultural norms and his queer identity and his low-income background, however, has launched him towards evolutionary self-expression, LGBTQ+ advocacy, and challenging the status quo.
Whether in his classes at Columbia University, building and implementing solutions in products and technology, in local and national organizing, or while developing concepts for his designs and thought leadership, Ty leverages insights from his intersectional background and his strategic acumen to implement equitable solutions for a better tomorrow.
While delving into the arts, product, and investing, Ty has parlayed his affinity for anime into exploring East Asian Languages and Cultures, China's infrastructural development and relations with world powers. Through his studies in China, he has become conversational in Mandarin and explored China's environmental, real estate, and social policy.
You can find him playing (an unhealthy amount) of Super Smash Bros, unabashedly raving Ariana Grande, and going on spontaneous adventures around New York City.
